Overview:
The provisions of the Transfer of Property Act are of importance for every citizen. An individual may not during his life span have occasion to sell, mortgage or gift land or other immovable property or movable property. But every one having shelter on his head, is either an owner landlord or a tenant or a tenant by succession.

A person may require money for his business and for that purpose he may mortgage his property either to a private money lender or to bank. A person may require premises for carrying out his profession/business, for that purpose he may take the premises of another person on lease or licence. At one stage or the other the provisions of Transfer of Property are attracted Property is now also considered status symbol of a person in society.
